Model United Nations

Uniting minds to create a better world

The Model United Nations at Canadian International School (CISMUN) aims to develop the character of global citizens through diplomacy and international relations. The CISMUN program is an integral part of the middle and high school experience for those who are passionate about making a change. This program has run for over a decade and regularly participates in conferences locally, regionally, and internationally. We hope that CISMUN XI can be a haven for you to grow as a global citizen and make lasting connections. As a conference that follows THIMUN procedure, we are striving to achieve THIMUN affiliation in the very near future.

With the ever-fragmentation of the global order, bottom-up approaches and reconciliation of geopolitical, economic, environmental, developmental, and social divides are paramount. By intertwining our conference theme, ‘Paving a Road to Recovery’, within each committee, we aspire to promote the necessity of a global, consolidated effort to actualise humanity’s redeemable objectives

Official Communication from the Secretariat

Distinguished Delegates, Respected Student Officers, Honourable Directors, and Esteemed Guests,

It is my honour to invite and welcome you to the eleventh iteration of the Canadian International School Model United Nations Conference (CISMUN XI). In a world grappling with conflict, poverty, and violence, the need to rebuild stability has never been more urgent. While an immediate solution may seem distant, the first step is recognizing the necessity of change—something each of you will accomplish through CISMUN XI.

Scheduled to take place from February 7th - 9th, 2025, CISMUN XI aims to bring delegates together to deliberate on sophisticated and innovative solutions to real-world crises. Since its inception as an internal conference in 2014, CISMUN has been defined by rigorous debate, diplomatic discourse, and meticulous research. This year, with eleven engaging committees catering to both Junior and Senior levels, we continue that tradition, ensuring every delegate has the opportunity to engage in constructive debate and impactful resolution-writing.

Our conference theme this year, ‘Paving a Road to Recovery’, could not be more relevant. Too often, humanity turns a blind eye to the consequences of its actions—on societies, individuals, and the world at large. The recent death of a 31-year-old female doctor in Kolkata, following severe physical abuse, is a haunting reminder of the injustices that persist. While many of us are shielded from such harsh realities, CISMUN XI will immerse you in pressing global issues that affect millions in real time. I implore you to grasp the gravity of the challenges you discuss, and recognize the privilege of being part of their solutions.

At the same time, I encourage you to make the most out of the experience as a middle or high schooler. Network with fellow delegates from across the country, embrace the spirit of diplomacy, and enjoy our lively social night. Whether you are a hesitant first-timer or a seasoned MUN enthusiast, you will find your place at CISMUN XI. Over three fast-paced, thought-provoking days, every delegate will have the chance to showcase their ingenuity and adaptability.

On behalf of the CISMUN XI Secretariat, we wish you the best of luck with the conference, and your future MUN endeavors!

Kind Regards,
Nivriti Puri
Secretary-General of CISMUN XI
